Cadet Kirchofer was an U.S. Air Force sergeant, at the Advanced Jet Training School at Craig Air Force Base near Selma, Alabama. In August 21, 1953 he was killed when two jet aircraft collided over Craig, Air Force Base, two weeks before commissioning and graduation.
