Staff Sgt. Murphy was initially listed as Missing in Action with Dec 12, 1945 as an Administrative Date of Death. Following the war, his remains were recovered and he was interred in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. His name is permanently engraved on the Walls of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery.
