Veterans Day 2014 at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery

On the 96th Anniversary of the World War I Armistice, local citizens and French government officials gathered at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery to commemorate American involvement in the war. Participants included the Préfet de la Meuse Isabelle Dilhac, the Deputy Jean-Louis Dumont, former French Secretary of Defense and current Senator Gérard Longuet, and 1st Vice-President of the Conseil Général Denis Cordonnier, and the Mayor of Romagne sous Montfaucon Nicolas Raffa.

Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery hosted a ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in honor of Veterans Day/Armistice Day.

Reading of the President’s Veterans Day Address
Laying of wreaths
Rendering of homage to the dead, playing of "Taps"
End of ceremony and departure to other ceremonial sites
