Service members from the 501st Combat Support Wing at RAF Alconbury supported the 2017 Veterans Day Ceremony at Cambridge American Cemetery. The theme of “youth” pervaded the ceremony to include remarks from Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire Sir Keith Pearson and Lt. Gen. Richard M Clark, commander of the 3rd Air Force. Both men highlighted how young the Americans of World War II were. These young men fulfilled the role given to them, while experiencing the horrors of war, which served as a testament to their competence and training. Attendees that day included World War II veteran Allan P. Hallett, who served in the 389th Bomb Group.
