Veterans Day 2017 at Lafayette Escadrille Memorial Cemetery

The Lafayette Escadrille Memorial Cemetery commemorates the birthplace of American combat aviation, and serves as a symbol of the Franco-American comradeship during World War I.

Lafayette Escadrille Memorial Cemetery hosted a Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. Organized by the town of Marnes-la-Coquette, the ceremony marked the 99th anniversary of the Armistice. It also included speeches and a wreath laying followed by children placing roses in the crypt as a symbol of remembrance. The crypt remained open until noon that day for visitors. Attendance was free and open to the public.
