Corporal Wankowski was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 107th Transportation Truck Company, U.S. Army. He was in a vehicle accident on Route 32 and evacuated to the 8063rd Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where he died on February 1, 1953.
