Can you name this World War II American cemetery? This 57-acre cemetery contains the graves of nearly 8,000 of our military dead. The cemetery holds fallen Americans of two major efforts: the U.S. First Army’s drive in September 1944 through northern France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg into Germany, and the Battle of the Bulge. On Dec.14, the American Battle Monuments Commission hosted a ceremony at Luxembourg American Cemetery to commemorate the U.S. and allied forces who fought in the Battle of the Bulge 80 years ago.
This month, we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. Luxembourg American Cemetery is the final resting place of 5,070 service members, many of whom lost their lives in the Battle of the Bulge and in the advance to the Rhine River.
