Lieutenant Borah, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 115, Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS MIDWAY (CVA-41). On September 24, 1972, he was the pilot of a Vought Attack Aircraft Corsair II (A-7B) on a strike against North Vietnamese troops entrenched in bunkers northwest of Quang Tri, South Vietnam when his aircraft was shot down by 37mm anti-aircraft fire. His remains were recovered on June 10, 1996 and identified on April 18, 1997. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
