Corporal Corle was a member of the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 164, Marine Air Group 36, 1st Marine Air Wing. On December 8, 1965, he was flying in a Sikorsky Seahorse Utility Helicopter (UH-34D), when his aircraft crashed into the sea offshore of South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
