Lieutenant Marvin was a member of Attack Squadron 115, Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS HANCOCK (CVA-19). On February 14, 1967, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Skyraider (A-1H). Shortly after takeoff his aircraft developed trouble, the engine stalled and cut off all electric power. He crashed into the sea. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
