For his leadership and valor, Master Sergeant Roberts was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Master Sergeant Roberts was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the First Sergeant of Company B, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while defending a road junction leading to Pusan and Mason, South Korea called the "Notch" on August 2, 1950. At the time he was moving among his personnel directing the defense, when he was struck by an enemy round.
