Master Sergeant Schim was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 224th Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. On March 6, 1952, he was killed when the stove in his bunker exploded at Hill 770, North Korea.
