Disinterred Unknown

In 2008, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency exhumed the commingled remains of three Unknown Soldiers buried in Plot A Row 17 Grave 5 at Ardennes American Cemetery with the belief that identifications could be made. DNA analysis and historical evidence were used to positively identify the remains as belonging to Pfc. Lawrence N. Harris, Cpl. Judge C. Hellums, and Pvt. Donald D. Owens. The name of Harris is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Epinal American Cemetery, and the names of Hellums and Owens are permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Lorraine American Cemetery.
