Disinterred Unknown

In May 2016, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency exhumed the remains of an Unknown Soldier buried in Plot C Row 19 Grave 17 at Ardennes American Cemetery with the belief that an identification could be made. Research and analysis were used to positively identify the remains as belonging to 1st Lt. George W. Betchley, who served in the 429th Bomber Squadron, 2nd Bomber Group, Heavy, and lost his life on March 22, 1945. His name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery.
