Private First Class Hodapp was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. In Korea, he was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was listed as Missing in Action on February 18, 1951 and returned to duty on February 24, 1951. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Undam-Jang, South Korea on April 23, 1951 and died while a prisoner on July 3, 1951 at POW Camp #1, North Korea of Dysentery. His remains were recovered on July 7, 1993 and identified on April 6, 2011. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
