Corporal Mason was a member of the 2nd Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on November 30, 1950 and returned to duty on January 22, 1951. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on February 14, 1951. He was presumed dead on March 11, 1954. His remains were not recovered at the time. Through the work of the Defense Department of Defense, the remains of Cpl. Mason were accounted for in 2015. His name is permanently inscribed in the “Courts of the Missing” at the Honolulu Memorial.
