Sergeant Staats was a medic with the Medical Company, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy while tending his wounded comrades in North Korea on November 4, 1950 and died of those wounds on December 31, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
