Corporal Steigerwalt was a member of the Heavy Mortar Company, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting a delaying action near Hagaru-ri, North Korea on November 30, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were recovered on December 1, 1993 and was identified on April 29, 2005. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
