Sergeant Torres was a member of Battery D, 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. On December 1, 1950, after being surrounded by Chinese forces, elements of the 7th Infantry Division and his battalion formed "Task Force Faith" with the mission of breaking through the Chinese roadblocks and transporting truck loads of American wounded to Hudong-ni, North Korea. Some elements of the task force made it safely across the frozen Chosin Reservoir to Hagaru-ri. He was listed as Missing in Action on December 2, 1950 and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
