Corporal Wirrick was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Kujang, North Korea on November 27, 1950 during the "Battle for Kunu-ri". He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were recovered in November of 2000 and identified on May 23, 2007. CPL Wirrick's name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
