Corporal Budke was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. Initially, he was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on November 30, 1950. Later, it was determined he had been taken prisoner of war and died during a march to a prison camp on January 25, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
