Corporal Butler was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on August 8, 1950 and returned to duty on October 2, 1950. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on January 1, 1951. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were recovered on July 19, 1951 and were identified on December 29, 2010. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
