Sergeant Carpenter was a member of Company A, 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on December 1, 1950. He was seen in POW Camp #5, Pyoktong, North Korea and believed to have died February 15, 1951 from malnutrition and disease. His remains were not recovered. |
