Master Sergeant Davis was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 10, 1950 and returned to duty on September 12, 1950. He was seriously wounded again on September 15, 1950 and returned on September 17, 1950. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on November 2, 1950 and died while a prisoner on April 8, 1951. MSGT Davis remains have been recovered and accounted for. His remains are interred at a private cemetery at Blairsville, PA. MSGT Davis' name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
