Private First Class Di Giorgio was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. His unit successfully repulsed three determined enemy assaults while defending the high ground near Chorwon, North Korea. After receiving intense artillery and mortar fire his position was overrun. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in Korea on October 12, 1951. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
