Master Sergeant Bass was a veteran of World War II, participating in airborne jump at Normandy on D-Day. In Korea, he was a member of the 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. On September 9, 1950 near Chindong, he organized a combat patrol to wipe out the enemy threat until he was killed. |
