Sergeant Betts was an equipment operator with the 630th Engineer Light Equipment Company, 19th Engineer Construction Group. When he was operating a bulldozer, a can of gasoline exploded causing severe burns and acute pulmonary edema. He was taken to the 11th Evacuation Hospital where he died on September 29, 1953. |
