Private Young was a medic with the Medical Company, 224th Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. On October 31, 1952, he was attached to Company B and was tending his wounded comrades on "Heartbreak Ridge" in North Korea when he was mortally wounded by an enemy mortar shell. |
