Lieutenant Frankovich was the pilot of a F4U-4 Corsair fighter with Fighter Squadron 653 aboard the aircraft carrier USS VALLEY FORGE (CV-45). On January 9, 1952, while on patrol in the 20 miles northwest of Yodo-ri, North Korea, he became separated from his wingman. He reported loss of oil pressure and was not heard from again. He was presumed dead on May 24, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
