Ensign Patton was the pilot of a F4U-4 Corsair fighter with Fighter Squadron 192 aboard the aircraft carrier USS PRINCETON (CV-37). On March 10, 1951, while on a combat mission near Changhung-ni, Korea, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed 15 miles east of Pukchong, Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on May 3, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
