Boatswain's Mate Third Class Young was a crew member of the attack transport USS UNION (AKA-106). He was listed as Missing in Action and presumed dead in Korea on March 26, 1952. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
