Lieutenant Carros was the pilot of a F9F-2 Panther Jet fighter with Fighter Squadron 52, aboard the aircraft carrier USS VALLEY FORGE (CV-45). On May 2, 1952, while on a combat mission over the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea, his aircraft was struck by small arms fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
