Lieutenant Colonel Lischeid was a pilot of a F4U-4B Corsair fighter with the Marine Fighter Squadron 214, Marine Air Group 12, 1st Marine Air Wing. On September 25, 1950, while on a combat mission, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire over Seoul, Korea, crashed and burst into flames. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
