Corporal Charles was a member of Company H, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while delaying the enemy at Yudam-ni, North Korea during the withdrawal from the Chosin Reservoir on December 1, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
