Sergeant Whalin was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a squad leader in the 1st Platoon, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy along the Western Front of central Korea by an enemy hand grenade on October 16, 1952. |
