Captain Walz was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the commanding officer of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. On March 29, 1953, he led his company to successfully retake "Outpost Vegas" and was killed by enemy 120 MM mortar fire. |
