Private First Class Waropay was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. During the early morning of September 16, 1951, he was defending his position on Hill 749 against a determined enemy counterattack. He was seriously wounded by a shell fragment and evacuated to the 1st Medical Battalion for treatment, but died on September 17, 1951. |
