First Lieutenant Wolf was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang night fighter with the 67th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 18th Fighter Bomber Group. On September 13, 1951, while on a combat mission, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire, burst into flames and crashed 35 miles northwest of Seoul, South Korea. He was declared Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on August 28, 1952. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
