First Lieutenant Escalle was the pilot of an F-86F Sabre Jet fighter with the 36th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter-Bomber Group. On June 19, 1953, while on a combat mission of strafing enemy positions, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on June 20, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
