First Lieutenant Beerwinkle was the pilot of a F-86F Sabre Jet fighter bomber with the 335th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 4th Fighter-Interceptor Group. On February 11, 1953, while returning from a combat mission and making a final approach to the runway, his aircraft crashed killing him. |
