Staff Sergeant Wohlgemuth was a crew member of a B-29A Superfortress Bomber with the 33rd Bomber Squadron, 22nd Bomber Wing. On October 19, 1950, as the aircraft departed Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa on a combat mission, its engine burst into flames on takeoff and his aircraft crashed into the sea killing eight crew members. His remains were not recovered. |
