First Lieutenant Yaich was a crew member of a C-46 Commando Transport with the 48th Troop Carrier Squadron, 1st Troop Carrier Group. On January 8, 1951, while landing at Chungju Air Base (K-41), the aircraft's landing gear collapsed and it crashed into two other C-46's. He was seriously wounded and died of those wounds on January 13, 1951. |
