First Lieutenant Armstrong was a P-47 pilot during of World War II. He was on temporary duty to the 3587th Student Squadron, San Marcos, TX from the 1737th Ferry Squadron, 1708 Ferrying Group, Dover, DE. His H-19 Helicopter lost its rear rotor destroying the main rotor and causing the fatal crash at San Marcos on August 19, 1952. |
