Second Lieutenant Baker was the navigator of a B-29 Superfortress Bomber with the 582nd Air Rescue Squadron, 582nd Air Rescue Wing, based at Great Falls Air Force Base, Montana. He was a member of the 1300th Training Group. On May 14, 1953, he was enroute to Lake Charles Air Force Base, Louisiana on a routine training flight. The aircraft crashed about eight miles from Sargent, Nebraska killing nine personnel. |
