Airman Second Class Blackwell. was the radio operator of a C-119C Flying Boxcar transport assigned to the 61st Troop Carrier Squadron, 314th Troop Carrier Group at Ashiya Air Force Base, Japan. On April 29, 1952, the plane was enroute from Atsugi Air Base to Ashiya, when it crashed into a mountain, killing all four on board. |
