Captain Plog was the instructor-pilot of a B-50D bomber with the 96th Bomb Squadron, 2nd Bomb Wing stationed at Hunter Air Force Base, Georgia. On January 8, 1953, the B-50D was on a training flight with eight other aircraft when it collided with another near the Isle of Hope, Georgia and crashed killing all nine on board. |
