First Lieutenant Robinson was the co-pilot of a C-47A Skytrain transport assigned to the 4th Air Transport Squadron, 5039th Air Transport Group at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. On August 22,1951 the plane was enroute from Elmendorf AFB to Eielson AFB, Alaska, when it crashed at Summit, Alaska about 145 miles north of Anchorage, killing all nine servicemen on board. |
