Major Alexander was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was the pilot of a F-84E Thunderjet assigned to the 560th Fighter Escort Squadron at Bergstrom Air Force Base, Austin, Texas. On June 8, 1951, he was flying from Bergstrom AFB to Selfridge Field, Michigan, when his engine iced up causing the plane to crash near Richmond, Indiana. |
