Live Chat with Teacher Chris Bunin about WWI Classroom Resources
Watch “A Virtual Fieldtrip: Teaching and Mapping the Geography of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.” During ABMC’s most recent Facebook live chat, ABMC staff member Sarah Herrmann spoke with social studies and geospatial technology teacher Chris Bunin from Albemarle High School in Virginia. Bunin, along with Teresa Goodin, developed teaching resources to help bring World War I into the classroom. Using a digital map of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, that was originally compiled in 1927, these teachers created lesson plans and resources to explain one of the largest battles in American history. They transformed this digital map it into a layered resource that includes battle lines, railroads, rivers, and more much, in order to help students visualize how terrain effected American battle plans. They went even further and added geotagged photos and videos. Watch as Bunin walks through these resources and explains how easily they can be integrated into the classroom. Watch the full chat below.
