President Obama Visits Manila American Cemetery
During his time in Asia, President Barack Obama visited Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines to honor the fallen. Manila American Cemetery Superintendent Larry Adkison, along with Philippines Vice President Jejomar Binay and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, greeted Obama upon his arrival at the cemetery. During his time at this World War II American Cemetery, Obama laid a wreath.
At this site rest 17,202 of our military dead, most of whom lost their lives in operations in New Guinea and the Philippines. The names of 36,285 individuals are inscribed the Tablets of the Missing.
